I am a 53 year old disabled (SSDI/SSI) grandmother who is currently losing her housing because I can’t find affordable, low income housing anywhere in Northern California or Northern Nevada. I have looked everywhere, long and hard, in that area. I cannot rent a room from strangers again because I have been the victim of roommate fraud and can’t trust again. I need to have my own place. The only thing I have heard so far by any candidates about people on Social Security Disability and their housing problems, is when I saw Bill Clinton (who is not a candidate!) mention in passing that people “cannot afford to live on Disability and have to find alternative ways to survive.” No one has addressed housing for the very poor AT ALL.
